The War Within

Young lads us

Wandering through

Parks and ponds

Admired did we

The men who fought

What is it

Driving this blood

Colored stripes

Unsung anthems

Stories of

Our father’s

And theirs

Bidding away

Homes and hearts

Teary eyes

Sombre lips

Watching us

Walk away

To wars unknown

Across seas

And sails

Holding pride

Prestige

Patriotism

For when

We bleed

To color those

Stripes again

Blink of madness

Daze of glory

Forgetting the

Homes and hearts

We’d leave behind

In a breath

For now

Forever

But for

Colored stripes

Unsung anthems

Young lads us

To love

Or to sacrifice

The war within.
